- Lieutenant Vadym Haburych (call sign Vakhim) was killed in battle for the city of Mariupol in the Donetsk region. During the performance of official duties, he received shrapnel wounds as a result of an air strike. He was transferred to the territory of the Azovstal plant. On April 26, 2022, the warrior's heart stopped. The officer was 37 years old. Vadym Leonovych was born in the village of Loganeshty (Moldova). However, he grew up in the Cherkasy region - in the village of Pidstavky. There he finished school. He was an active participant in amateur performances, took part in performances, and engaged in dancing. Then he stu at the Cherkasy Commercial College in the specialty "Food Production" and received the qualification of a food technologist. He graduated from the college in 2013 by correspondence, as he interrupted his studies due to military service, which he served in the urban-type settlement of Desna. He received higher education at the Kharkiv State University of Food Technology and Trade in the specialty "Food Technology and Engineering". In civilian life, he worked in a construction company in Portugal. Vadym was sociable, kind, cheerful, always found a common language with people of different ages, and especially with children, whom he adored. He always came to the aid of neighbors, friends, and the elderly, and could not pass by someone else's misfortune. He had many friends in civilian and military life. He was passionate about construction and repair work. He spoke Romanian, English, and Portuguese. He loved to travel. In his youth, he stu the Bible. During his lifetime, he managed to build a house, plant many trees, raise a son, and dedicate himself to the defense of Ukraine. In 2015, the man joined the ranks of the Azov battalion. He participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation / Joint Forces Operation. At the time of the full-scale Russian invasion, he held the position of senior officer (group leader) of the technical support group. Since February 24, 2022, Vadym, together with his wife, who served with him, has been defending Mariupol and Azovstal. On April 23, 2022, Vadym was wounded, and three days later he . His wife Alina was captured by the Russians, from which she was released on April 10, 2023. For his service, the officer was awarded the distinctions "For Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation", "For Valiant Service", "For Military Service to Ukraine", and the Order of Courage of the III degree (posthumously). "Vadym considered it his duty to protect the Ukrainian land, people, his home, and his family. He was responsible, fair, and positive," his wife said. The hero left behind his parents Leon Mykhailovych and Hanna Heorhiivna, his wife Alina, and his son Yehor.
