Vadym M. Prokopchuk

Soldier Vadym Prokopchuk (call sign Maestro) died on February 12, 2024, in battles with the occupiers near the city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission and evacuating a wounded comrade, he received fatal injuries as a result of a mortar attack. The warrior is now forever 22 years old. Vadym was born in Lutsk. He was passionate about music from childhood. He graduated from the Volyn Professional College of Culture and Arts named after Igor Stravinsky. In 2023, he became a graduate of the National Music Academy of Ukraine named after P. I. Tchaikovsky. Vadym played the trombone. Alongside his studies, he worked in various music bands and also in construction. With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, the young man joined the ranks of the Territorial Defense Forces. As part of the 100th Brigade, he participated in the liberation of the Kyiv region. In March 2023, he was transferred to the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he commanded a unit. During his service, Vadym was awarded the honorary badge of the Commander of the Ground Forces for personal bravery, as well as the "Golden Cross" award of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the "Veteran of War" medal. Vadym was buried in the Alley of Glory in the city of Kivertsi in Volyn. He is survived by his wife and parents.
