- 27-year-old senior lieutenant Vadym Hryniuk killed in action on March 11, 2022, as a result of an enemy missile strike on the airport in the city of Lutsk in Volyn. Three other military personnel with him at the time. Vadym was born and raised in Lutsk. He received his higher education at the Faculty of History, Political Science and National Security of the Volyn National University. During his studies, he decided that he wanted to be a military man, like his father. So, he also completed the military department. Since 2013, he has worked at "Nova Poshta" as a specialist-receiver of branch number 1 in his hometown. In June 2017, he was mobilized for military service and never returned to work - he defended Ukraine in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the end. The young officer took part in the ATO/OOS and underwent training in various regions of Ukraine. After some time, he transferred to serve in Lutsk. When the full-scale war began, the officer was serving in his hometown. He held the position of deputy commander of the 130th guard company of the 204th tactical aviation brigade of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The occupiers carried out the first shelling of the city on February 24. Vadym was in the military unit. A few days after that, he was allowed to go home. The last time Vadym saw his relatives was on March 10, the day before his death. "My son was very easy-going, but at the same time, not frivolous. He wanted to buy his own car and apartment. And he did. Although he didn't have time to enjoy the car, and he didn't live in the apartment. I always feel like Vadym will come in, that he will knock on the door at any moment. He almost never called, he always knocked. I drive away thoughts that I don't want to live anymore. Because I have no moral right. Now we have to live for him. And most importantly - to do everything to keep his memory alive. If everyone who knew Vadym well was asked to describe him in one word, it would probably be the word 'light'. I feel that he is. He is in the kind words that people say about him," Vadym's mother Zoya shared. "We remember Vadym as a calm, positive and life-loving person, always ready to help others. That's how he will remain in our hearts," his colleagues noted. The officer was buried in the village of Novosilka in Vinnytsia region next to his sister, who as a child 20 years before him. Vadym is survived by his parents. Posthumously, Vadym Hryniuk was awarded the medals "Defender of the Fatherland" and "For Impeccable Service" III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
