Valentyn Ya. Meshko (Valik)

Soldier Valentyn Meshko (call sign Wind) was killed on May 11, 2023, while performing a combat mission near the village of Krynydivka in the Sumy region. During the combat mission, he was hit by the enemy drone "Shahed-136". Six of his comrades also was killed with him. The defender was forever 25 years old. Valentyn was born in the village of Tur'ya-Remeta, Zakarpattia region. He studied at the local school. Then he graduated from a vocational school, where he mastered the profession of a computer operator. He was an active participant in sports, tourism competitions, tournaments, and hikes. Football was his favorite hobby since childhood. In his free time, he always gathered with friends and organized football games. His credo was: "Life is movement, movement is sport." He also enjoyed fishing. He loved to relax in nature, pick mushrooms, and ride a motorcycle. Together with his beloved, they dreamed of a wedding and starting a family. In March 2022, Valentyn joined the defense of his native land as part of the 68th battalion "Zakarpattia Sharks" of the 101st separate brigade of territorial defense. He held the position of a rifleman. For almost 1.5 years, together with his comrades, he honorably defended himself, his loved ones, and all of Ukraine. "His smile - it all started with that. Sincere, kind, welcoming, sunny, radiant, which warmed my soul. And his deep eyes, in which I saw not only a reflection, but the meaning of life. Together with my beloved, I felt what it means to truly love and be loved. We dreamed of a wedding, starting a family, and wanting children. My beloved would have been the best father. We were building plans for a happy peaceful future... We were happy, in love, smiling... But the cursed war destroyed everything in an instant... Valentyn was sincere, kind, smiling, fair, a reliable friend, he loved and respected his family, and always helped everyone. In the memory, memories, and hearts of his loved ones and acquaintances, he will remain with a sincere smile and a courageous heart! We love and grieve... You have become an angel in the sky, and it is difficult for us without you. In our hearts, you will live forever... The pain of the loss will never fade. In our memories, you will live. We will always remember your smile, your kind heart, your gaze and your voice! Our brave, sincere, courageous, our dear, close to our hearts! Eternal memory, darling, eternal peace to you and your comrades!" - wrote the deceased's beloved Leonora Stupak. The warrior was buried in his native village. Valentyn is survived by his parents, brother, grandmother, beloved girlfriend, friends, comrades, and his entire loving family.
