- 48-year-old junior sergeant Vasyl Naida (call sign Bumer) died in the hospital on November 28, 2023. On August 15, during the evacuation of wounded comrades near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region, he was seriously wounded as a result of artillery shelling. With a traumatic brain injury and multiple shrapnel wounds, he was in a coma. He was transferred to different hospitals, his condition alternating between worsening and improving. Doctors fought for the warrior's life until the very end. Vasyl was from the city of Hlyboka, Chernivtsi region. He graduated from Gymnasium No. 1 there. Then he studied at the Chernivtsi Construction Technical School. He served conscript service in the airborne assault troops. In civilian life, he worked as a builder and had his own team. He loved football very much and played for the Hlyboka team in his youth. In 2008, he moved to Italy with his family, where he lived and worked until the beginning of the full-scale invasion. In the first days of the Great War, on February 26, 2022, the man returned to his homeland and stood up for its defense. On March 2, 2022, Vasyl joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At first, he was in the 22nd Rifle Battalion. He fought in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, holding the position of squad commander. In the Kharkiv region, on May 8, 2022, he received his first wound. After a little treatment, still limping, he returned to the front. Later, he underwent training in Poland. After returning, he was transferred to the 116th Separate Mechanized Brigade. There he took the position of mortar crew commander and went to defend the Zaporizhzhia direction. During his service, Vasyl received the award "Participant in Combat Operations" and a certificate "For conscientious performance of official duties, loyalty to the military oath, exemplary military discipline and high achievements in combat training."
