Vasyl I. Zakonov

Born on May 9, 1992, in the city of Sverdlovsk (since 2016 - Dovzhansk) in the Luhansk region. Ukrainian. Since 1997, he lived with his family in the urban-type settlement of Velyki Korovyntsi in the Chudniv district of the Zhytomyr region. In 2008, he graduated from the 9th grade of the general education school in the urban-type settlement of Velyki Korovyntsi, then attended the Berdychiv College of Industry, Economics, and Law (in the city of Berdychiv, Zhytomyr region). On May 15, 2013, he was drafted for compulsory military service into the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the Chudniv-Lyubar United District Military Commissariat of the Zhytomyr region. He then continued military service under contract as the commander of the 3rd section of the 2nd platoon of the 2nd company of the 1st battalion of the 101st separate guard brigade of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0139, city of Kyiv). Since December 1, 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. He was a participant in the battles for the city of Debaltseve in the Donetsk region. On February 7, 2015, the base camp of the 101st separate guard brigade of the General Staff in the area of the city of Debaltseve in the Donetsk region was shelled by the Grad multiple rocket launcher system of Russian-terrorist armed formations. One of the fragments flew into the tent where Junior Sergeant Zakunov was located, resulting in the serviceman receiving a fatal injury from which he died. On February 12, 2015, he was buried in the cemetery of the urban-type settlement of Velyki Korovyntsi in the Chudniv district of the Zhytomyr region.
