Vasyl M. Miovkanych (Uzh)

Main Sergeant Vasyl Miokanych (call sign Uzh) was killed on February 6, 2023, while performing a combat mission in the area of the village of Nevske in the Luhansk region. The defender was 35 years old. Vasyl was born in the village of Zahirb in the Zakarpattia region. From childhood, he lived in the village of Siurte in Zakarpattia. He first studied at Uzhhorod School No. 20, then at the Siurtivska School. Later, he graduated from Uzhhorod Vocational School No. 5. Since then, he lived in Uzhhorod. For more than 10 years, he worked as an automotive mechanic at the Terpak-Tans company. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man unhesitatingly went to defend his country from the enemy. Viktor served in the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of senior sergeant of the platoon and, together with his comrades-in-arms, carried out complex combat missions on the front line. "We lived in an official marriage for 12 years. 'Contra Spem Spero' was Vasia's life motto. He was a sensitive, kind, and very fair person. His son Yurii will remember his father as a true Hero," said the deceased's ex-wife Viktoriia. The warrior was buried on the Hill of Glory in Uzhhorod. Vasyl is survived by his mother, son, relatives, friends, and comrades-in-arms.
