- Born on December 8, 1992, in the city of Samarkand (Uzbekistan) in a military family. After some time, the family moved to the city of Kozyatin in the Vinnytsia region. Graduated from 9 grades of general education school No. 4 (now the educational complex "lyceum-school") in Kozyatin, in 2010 - from Vocational School No. 21 in Mykolaiv. Since 2010, he has been in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 2010, he entered the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Army Academy (now the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny, Lviv) in the faculty of airborne troops and reconnaissance. In 2012, due to the transfer of the faculty, he continued his studies at the Military Academy (Odesa). In 2014, he graduated from the faculty of highly mobile airborne troops and reconnaissance of the Military Academy (Odesa). Since 2014, he served in the 80th separate airborne brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0284, Lviv). Since May 28, 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On August 31, 2014, Lieutenant Kovalchuk was killed by shrapnel wounds during a battle with Russian-terrorist groups while exiting the Luhansk International Airport near the urban-type settlement of Heorhiivka in the Luhansk region. On September 2, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery of Kozyatin. On May 14, 2015, memorial plaques were opened in the city of Kozyatin on the facade of the educational complex "lyceum-school" (20 Volodymyra Velykoho Street) and in Mykolaiv on the facade of the building of Vocational School No. 21 (31/2 Sadova Street), where Viktor Kovalchuk studied.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
