Viorel P. Lisnyk

Born on October 23, 1979, in the village of Hortok, Chişinău district of Moldova. In 1995, he graduated from the general education boarding school in the village of Borshchi, Kotovsk (now Podilsk) district of Odesa region. In the spring of 2014, he was called up for partial mobilization to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0666, the urban-type settlement of Chornomorske, Kominternivskyi (since 2016 - Lymanskyi) district of Odesa region). From spring-summer 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On December 25, 2014, Junior Sergeant Lisnyk was killed while performing a combat mission as a result of a mine explosion of OZM-72 in the area between the settlement of Pisky and the village of Pervomaiske in Yasynuvata district of Donetsk region. Major Kushniruk was killed along with him. He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Chernyakhivske, Ivanivskyi district of Odesa region. On December 3, 2015, a memorial plaque was unveiled in the village of Borshchi, Kotovsk (now Podilsk) district on the facade of the building of the general education boarding school where Viorel Lisnyk studied.
