Vitalii M. Kun

Junior Sergeant Vitaliy Kun (call sign Hulk) died on May 10, 2024, near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhia region. During the performance of a combat mission, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of a strike by an enemy FPV drone. The defender was 24 years old. Vitaliy was born and raised in the village of Sapizhanka in the Lviv region. He graduated from the Lviv branch of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts with a degree in "Computer Systems and Networks Maintenance". He loved mountain hikes, conquered Hoverla twice, and was passionate about football. In 2019, he was drafted into the National Guard of Ukraine for compulsory military service. After a year, he was demobilized and later worked abroad with his wife. The couple returned to Ukraine before the start of the full-scale invasion. On March 23, 2022, Vitaliy voluntarily went to defend Ukraine from the occupiers. He was drafted into the 3115th unit of the National Guard of Ukraine. In 2023, he was transferred to the 14th Operational Purpose Brigade "Chervona Kalyna". That same year, he went to the UK for training. Later, the brigade was sent to the Zaporizhia direction. The man participated in the liberation of Verbove and Robotyne. He was the commander of the AGS-17 grenade launcher platoon. "My husband was a person with a big and kind heart. He helped his relatives and loved ones. He loved Ukraine very much, was the first to go into battle, and feared nothing. He always said: 'I'm not afraid to die for Ukraine, I'm afraid the occupiers will come to our home, so I have to protect you.' I was very lucky to have him, we were together for almost 8 years, but unfortunately the war separated us. When my Vitalik died, I felt that he was no longer there, my soul died with him that day. I look at our videos and photos with my beloved every day, I miss Vitalik very much, without him this life is very difficult. This is a great sorrow for me, because I have lost the greatest love of my life. This is an unspeakable loss for the whole family. We deeply mourn our brave warrior," shared Anastasia Kun. Vitaliy was buried with all honors in the cemetery of his native village of Sapizhanka. He is survived by his parents, wife, brother, grandmother, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and aunt.
