- Senior Sergeant Vitaliy Radio was killed in battle for Ukraine on April 1, 2024. During the performance of a combat mission in the area of the village of Semenivka in the Donetsk region, he received fatal mine-explosive injuries. On October 22, the defender would have turned 44 years old. Vitaliy was born in the village of Kamyanka, Rivne region. But he lived his whole life in the village of Kurhany. After graduating from Kurhany Secondary School of I-II degrees in 1995, he entered the Berezne Vocational School. He served in the military. He started working as a furniture specialist. Later, he found his calling when he started working in the construction industry. He was always mastering new techniques, watching a lot of videos to improve his qualifications. The most successful project of his life was his own house, which he built himself. In civilian life, Vitaliy had a large circle of friends, everyone considered him the soul of the company, as he always knew what to say, what joke to tell, and what words of support to choose. He loved fishing, picking mushrooms, and watching football matches. He supported FC Dynamo (Kyiv) and the national team. The man defended Ukraine from the first days of the full-scale invasion of Russian invaders. He held the position of senior sergeant of the company in the 68th separate Jager brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush. He fought in the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions. Vitaliy had a rather rare and extremely interesting surname Radio, which became his call sign from the very beginning. Although many younger comrades-in-arms addressed him as Mykolaiovych. For his dedicated service, the soldier was awarded the badge "For Personal Courage", the honorary badge "Silver Cross", the badge "Cross of the Jager Warrior" of the 1st degree, and the award of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine "Firearm". "I am incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to spend 20 years of my life with such an incredible dad, who always put our family first. There was not a moment when I doubted his love, because he always repeated: 'Everything I do is for you.' He had grandiose plans for life, said that he was still a young man and ready to conquer new heights, but after the war. He wanted to expel the invader from the country as soon as possible, which is why he did not remain indifferent when the full-scale invasion unfolded," the fallen warrior's daughter Vita said. "Everyone respected Radio and always carried out his orders. He was the backbone of our company. We will miss him," his comrades-in-arms added. Vitaliy was buried in the cemetery in the village of Kurhany. The defender left behind his wife Natalia, son Bohdan, daughter Vita, brother Volodymyr, and sister Ivanna. In 2024, Vitaliy Radio was posthumously awarded the title of "Hero of Ukraine" with the award of the "Golden Star" order.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
