Vitalii M. Vorona (Voron)

Sergeant Vitaliy Vorona (call sign Vorona) was killed on July 20, 2024 near the city of Vuhledar in the Donetsk region. While performing his duties, he sustained fatal injuries during an enemy artillery attack on the positions. On July 3, the defender turned 52 years old. Vitaliy was a native of the village of Harbuzyn, Cherkasy region. He graduated from the Harbuzyn school. Then he obtained the profession of a mechanic-technician at the Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi vocational school. He worked abroad. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the man voluntarily went to the military registration and enlistment office and insisted on joining the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of senior grenade launcher squad commander and rifleman-medic in the 72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians. He received the medal "For the Defense of Vuhledar". "Always with a smile on his face, he never lost hope under any circumstances, supported his loved ones and loved to repeat that everything would be fine. When he left the position, he often called me and said: 'I came out of hell, but I'm here so that you can live peacefully and not see this. The main thing is that everything is fine with you, and I will sort it out here, do not worry about me,'" said the daughter of the deceased Yana. Vitaliy was buried in his native village. He left behind a mother and a daughter.
