Vitalii V. Palii

Senior soldier Vitaliy Paliy was killed on January 28, 2023 near the village of Rozdolivka in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he received a fatal shrapnel wound to the head during a mortar bombardment. He would have turned 39 on February 8. Vitaliy was born and lived in the city of Horokhiv, Volyn region. He graduated from local school No. 2. He then studied at Lutsk Technical School No. 2. In civilian life, he worked as a security guard. In his free time, he painted and played sports. At the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, the man joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his family and country. He served in the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade "Edelweiss", holding the position of gunner. "May the Heavenly Kingdom and eternal peace be with our defender. He was a very good, kind and bright person. Deep bow to the parents, sincere condolences to the relatives and friends," wrote the deceased's acquaintance Iryna Andrienko. Vitaliy was buried in his hometown. He left behind a wife, two children, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms. The soldier was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
