- Sailor Volodymyr Beliak (call sign Atos) was killed on May 2, 2024 near the village of Lvove in the Kherson region. While carrying out a combat mission, he received fatal injuries as a result of a hostile FPV drone attack. The defender was now forever 44 years old. Volodymyr was born in the village of Toporische, Zhytomyr region. After marriage, since 2008, he lived with his family in the village of Nemishaieve in the Kyiv region. He graduated from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and obtained a master's degree in geology. However, he worked in the field of IT engineering all his life. He was passionate about computers and everything related to them. During the full-scale invasion, the man defended the Motherland as part of the 36th separate marine brigade of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of radar station operator of the battery control and artillery reconnaissance. He received the awards "Participant of Combat Operations" and "For Exemplary Service". "Volodymyr was the best husband and father one could only dream of. His love for his family was boundless, and his care and support were unwavering. He knew how to give warmth and joy even in the most difficult times. His dedication to his family, loyalty to friends, and kindness to colleagues made him a beloved and respected person among all who were lucky to know him. His loss is an unhealed wound for the family, who lost not only the best husband and father, but also a person who lived his calling, always honestly and devotedly working for the benefit of others. He will forever remain in our hearts, and the light of his soul will continue to warm us in our memories," his wife shared. The marine was buried in the village of Mykulychi in the Kyiv region. At home, Volodymyr was awaited by his wife Maia and two sons: Volodymyr and Tymofii. The children were 16 and 8 years old at the time of their father's death, respectively.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
