- Vladimir Gavrylyuk, the "Crimean Cossack," was killed on December 13, 2022, during battles with the occupiers in the area of the village of Ternivka in the Donetsk region. On January 7, 2023, the warrior would have turned 43 years old. Vladimir was born in the village of Stepanivka, Vinnytsia region. He graduated from the Vinnytsia Transport College. Since 2000, he lived in Crimea and studied at the Crimean Humanitarian University. The man had strong pro-Ukrainian views, so he drove his son across all of Yalta to the only Ukrainian-language kindergarten in the city. He made banduras and kobzas, learned to play them, and sang lullabies to children. He was a participant in the Euromaidan. After the Russian occupation of the peninsula, the Gavrylyuk family moved to the Vinnytsia region. The man could not stay at home during the war in 2014, so he went to the front as a volunteer. He participated in the ATO as part of the "Golden Gate" battalion. Later, he settled in Vinnytsia, where he served in the patrol police. From the first days of the full-scale Russian military invasion, Vladimir went to the military enlistment office. He joined the territorial defense unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was always eager to do something and go into battle. According to the commander, the fighter responsibly carried out tasks and was a courageous warrior. On December 13, Vladimir went on a mission from which he did not return. Before that, he told his comrades who did not want to go there: "Who, if not us? Who will support the guys? What are we here for?" A few days later, his wife Yulia began the search. For some time, Vladimir was considered missing. At the end of December, the occupiers returned the warrior's body as part of an exchange program. Yulia recognized him by his unusual pendant - a bronze trident-shaped bird on a black cord. She notes that the man strongly wanted to get home for New Year's, Christmas, and his birthday. He wanted to spend the holidays with his children and family. But it was not meant to be. "A true Cossack of the 21st century: with a classic forelock, luxurious mustache, and a courageous heart." This is how Vladimir's comrades-in-arms, relatives, friends, and even those who briefly crossed paths with him in life remember him. "My beloved. Our hero. Our protector. From the first day, you went to defend our land. I can't imagine life without you. There are simply no more like you... Rest in peace, you have managed to do a lot in life, except to start enjoying our achievements. Finally, you found peace. You so dreamed of lighting a fire in the fireplace you built, gathering the whole family in this hall that we built together. Your rocking chair was waiting for you. We prepared with our daughter, despite the premonitions... And you would come, gather the guests, but without a fire and joys," wrote the wife of the fallen warrior, Yulia. Vladimir was buried in his native village of Stepanivka in the Vinnytsia region. The defender left behind a wife and two children: son Vova and daughter Anya.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
