Volodymyr O. Yarovyi

35-year-old Volodymyr Yarovyi (call sign Engineer) was killed on July 6, 2024 near the village of Mali Prokhody in the Kharkiv region. The car in which he was traveling with his comrades was blown up by an enemy mine. Volodymyr was born in the city of Izium, Kharkiv region. He studied at Izium Secondary School No. 5, and later at an agricultural lyceum. He was an active and friendly young man. He was involved in sports, particularly running, and had the opportunity to participate in many marathons. In 2012-2013, he served his mandatory military service. For over 10 years, he worked at a metal base, starting as an ordinary worker and later becoming a manager. In 2014-2015, he was mobilized to defend the country in the ATO zone. On the first day of the full-scale invasion, on February 24, 2022, he did not hesitate to defend Ukraine, considering it his duty. He initiated the evacuation of his family and went to fight. He served in the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade, holding the position of UAV operator. He was wounded. After the hospital, he returned to the front line to his comrades. For his service, Senior Soldier Volodymyr Yarovyi was awarded the "Golden Cross" badge and the "War Veteran" medal. "Vova was a good friend, a kind person, and a courageous defender. He has been defending the borders of Ukraine since 2014! Eternal memory," wrote his classmate Lyudmyla Mantula. The defender was buried in the Alley of Glory in his hometown. Volodymyr is survived by his parents, sister, brother, and a son who was 9 years old at the time of his father's death.
