- Soldier Yevhen Horetyi (call sign Cat) was killed on March 14, 2023, while repelling an enemy attack near the village of Bohdanivka in the Donetsk region. He was killed in the arms of his younger brother Artem. The warrior was 28 years old. Yevhen was born in the city of Lysychansk, Luhansk region. He graduated from school and a vocational school there, where he obtained the profession of an electric welder. He used to work in Kyiv. In his free time, he loved watching good movies, spending time with his family, and cooking delicious meals with his mother. After the start of the full-scale invasion, Yevhen, along with his brother and mother, moved to his grandmother's place in the village of Velyka Klestska, Rivne region. It was there that he was drafted into the military. He served together with his younger brother Artem in the 710th Brigade of the State Special Transport Service. Initially, he was a guard battalion rifleman, and later a rifleman in the assault company. "He was the most beloved nephew, bright, sensitive, and kind, always ready to help. When we talked to him, he always said: 'When the war is over, we'll come back home, which will be under the blue and yellow flag, I'll meet a girl, get married, buy an apartment, and live happily with two little kids.' I miss him very much, I grieve for him. He was my solace, my joy," said the deceased's aunt, Sofiya Fedotova. "It's impossible to say anything bad about Zhenya, he was always caring and kind. He cared for his younger brother, whom he loved very much. His care literally extended to everyone around him. During training and exercises, he thought about me more than I did myself. If it's cold, Zhenya will always make tea. If I'm without knee pads, he'll scold me and put his own on me... And it was like that in everything and for everyone. Zhenya dreamed of returning to his hometown and entering it together with his brother under the blue and yellow flag. Unfortunately, the war took them both, but in different ways. Cat was killed by enemy shelling, and Artem was killed a year later from lung disease. Zhenya will forever remain my tactical pair (he loved to say that)," said his comrade-in-arms Anastasia Balan. Yevhen is buried in the village of Velyka Klestska, Rivne region. He is survived by his mother, other relatives, friends, comrades-in-arms, and sisters-in-arms. The defender was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage, Third Degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
