- The defender of Mariupol, Senior Sergeant Yevhen Vus (call sign Vus-2) passed away on March 26, 2022, on the battlefield of the "Azovstal" plant from severe injuries sustained in a battle with the occupiers three days earlier. The warrior was 53 years old. Yevhen Vus was born and lived in Kyiv. He graduated from school No. 27 and the Kyiv National Trade and Economic University. He was fond of hunting and tourism, loved to read. At the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the man joined the volunteer rescue service "ASAP RESCUE" and participated in the ATO. He was in the "Taira Angels" unit. He had the call sign "Flag". Initially, he was a driver, was engaged in the evacuation of wounded Ukrainian soldiers from the contact line to the nearest hospitals. Later, he became a paramedic. He carried out tasks in Avdiivka, on the Gorlivka and Mariupol directions. In 2019, Yevhen entered into a contractual service with the OZSP NGU "Azov". He continued to fight for Ukraine on the territory of the JFO. After the full-scale invasion, he also defended the Motherland. For his service, the fighter was repeatedly awarded, including the award "For Saved Lives (ATO)", the chest badge "ATO Participant", the chest badge "Sign of Honor", the award "For Humanitarian Participation in the Anti-Terrorist Operation", the medal "For Assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine" and the Order "For Courage" III degree (posthumously). "Zheka, I'm crying... We've been through so much together, side by side, living and doing our job. I'm crying, my friend, I'm really crying... I can't believe it... I remember your mol'far coffee, the candies in the glove compartment just for me, my favorite Pepsi, the thermos of tea, and the butters because I didn't always have time for breakfast. You managed to take care of everything, I knew I wouldn't get lost with you because you were nearby. Thank you for being my friend, comrade, and driver of my favorite three-wheeler. Reign, my brother...", wrote Yevhen's battle comrade Yulia Zozulya. Yevhen was buried at "Azovstal", his relatives and loved ones were unable to accompany him on his final journey to his homeland.
