Yuliia A. Shevchenko

Yulia Shevchenko, a defender, was killed on July 31, 2023, during a hostile air strike on the positions of Ukrainian defenders in Eastern Ukraine. In June, the servicewoman turned 24 years old. Yulia was born in Kyiv and studied at Lyceum No. 241. In 2022, she graduated from the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University in Kharkiv. That same year, she became a postgraduate student at the Department of Criminal Law at her alma mater. In 2021, while in her 5th year, she won the "Anti-Corruption Assault" project and joined the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, working in the Department of Mandatory Full Inspections. She wrote poetry and loved walks and hikes. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the girl went to defend her country. Yulia became a servicewoman of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade "Magura," serving as the deputy commander for moral and psychological support. The day before her death, her relatives visited her at the front line. Yulia met her love, a military man named Taras. They planned a wedding and dreamed of a family and children, but did not have the chance. Yulia was killed as a Hero, fighting for Ukraine. She was buried on August 5, 2023, in her native Kyiv. Yulia is survived by her loved ones, fiancé, friends, colleagues, and comrades-in-arms.
