Yurii O. Maievskyi (Povodyr)

36-year-old fighter Yuriy Mayevskyi (call sign Povodyr) was killed on March 17, 2023 near the village of Vodiane in Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, the warrior received a fatal injury during enemy artillery shelling. Yuriy was from the city of Khmilnyk. He studied at school No. 18. At the age of 10, he joined the "Plast" organization, where they educate conscious people who develop themselves and Ukraine. After school, he studied at Khmilnyk National University in two specialties: "Accounting and Audit" and "Chemical and Environmental Control and Production Management". He successfully mastered the profession of chemical engineer-technologist. From 2008 he worked at PE "Ekotest". Since 2019, he has been the head of treatment facilities at LLC "PROTEIN INVEST". In his free time, he loved to read books, especially historical ones. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, the man, having no military experience, decided to defend his Motherland. At first, he served in the volunteer formation "Avanhard". In August 2022, he joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and became a fighter of the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh. "My beloved is a Hero, a warrior of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, courageous, brave, courageous, a true patriot of his country. Yurchyk was the best husband, dad and friend, kind, sensitive, honest, sincere, fair, a man of word and deed. Comrades-in-arms called him 'mommy' because he cared about everyone," said Nataliya Mayevska. The defender was buried on the Alley of Glory in the Rakove microdistrict of his hometown. At home, his wife and son, who was 4 years old at the time of his father's death, were waiting for Yuriy.
