Biography
Yuriy Volodymyrovych Tymus was born on May 2, 1987, in the village of Dyatkivtsi, Brodivskyi district, Lviv region. After graduating from the Kharkiv National Air Force University named after Ivan Kozhedub in 2008, he served in the 16th Separate Army Aviation Brigade. He was a first-class military pilot and an instructor on the Mi-8 helicopter in the 16th OBrAA. He repeatedly participated in peacekeeping missions in Liberia, Congo. Since 2014, he has been defending the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine, performing tasks in the ATO/OOS. With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022, he participated in the defense of Kyiv and was awarded the Order of "Courage" III degree for this. He was killed on March 31, 2022, during the performance of a combat mission to deliver medicine and food to the Azovstal plant in Mariupol and evacuate wounded Ukrainian soldiers. On that day, the Ukrainian Mi-8 helicopter was shot down by Russians in the area of the village of Rybatske in the Mariupol district, as a result of which the entire crew was killed. Yuriy Tymus was buried on March 20, 2024, at the Central Cemetery in Brody, Lviv region. He is survived by his wife and three children.Burial place
