- 31-year-old Staff Sergeant Yevhen Maklakhov (call sign Lemon) was killed on July 23, 2023 on the outskirts of the village of Klishchiyivka in the Donetsk region. The enemy was shelling the evacuation point for the wounded. Everyone hid in the trenches to wait it out. Suddenly, one of the soldiers started groaning heavily, and Yevhen decided to check on his condition, even though his comrades tried to dissuade him. When he rushed to the wounded soldier, a shell hit. Yevhen tried to apply tourniquets to himself, as he had received shrapnel wounds. Another comrade rushed to help, but a second shell took the lives of all three soldiers. Yevhen was born and lived in Kyiv. He completed 9 grades at school No. 232. He then enrolled at the Kyiv Higher Vocational School of Technology and Design, specializing in "Computer Typesetting Operator." However, he did not complete his studies and went on to serve in the army. After being discharged, he worked at the State Emergency Service fire department. Later, he applied to the State Guard Service of Ukraine. For three years, he served in the Office of the President. Then he worked various jobs, searching for his path. On February 24, 2022, the man went to the military enlistment office, received a weapon, and joined the defense of his native capital. Later, he joined the ranks of the 129th Battalion of the 112th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In May, he went with the unit to the eastern direction, in particular, defending Soledar. In April 2023, he took the position of a combat medic and returned to the Donetsk region. For his service, the defender was awarded the medal "For Saved Life," a commemorative sign from the State Guard Service of Ukraine "For Courage" (posthumously), a commemorative medal of the 112th Brigade (posthumously), and the Order of Courage of the III degree (posthumously). "Yevhen led a rather calm and quiet life, he did not like very large companies, but at the same time, in his school years, when he learned to play the guitar, a group of friends gathered around him and listened to his songs. He was like an ordinary guy who surrounds us everywhere, but at the same time, he was a personality with a deep inner world, who thought a lot, loved philosophy, and always had his own opinion. And on February 24, 2022, he himself went to the military enlistment office and expressed a desire to defend our country, just like other 'ordinary' guys and girls, thanks to whom Ukraine lives..." - wrote Yevhen's best friend. Yevhen wanted his body to be cremated and his ashes scattered over the Carpathians. The family did so - the ashes were scattered on Mount Vysokyi Verkh. Yevhen is survived by his parents and younger brother.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
