Serhii I. Babichev

After graduating from the Mariupol Professional Agrarian Lyceum (Vocational School No. 141) in the spring of 2011, Serhiy was drafted for compulsory military service, which he completed in the capital's internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (now the National Guard of Ukraine), and later continued his service under contract. In January 2015, he was dispatched to Eastern Ukraine to ensure the rotation of units of the reserve battalion of operational designation named after the Hero of Ukraine Major General S. Kulchytsky. He was driving a "Bogdan" minibus, which, while transporting one of the platoons of reservists, was involved in a traffic accident near the city of Artemivsk. Serhiy was an experienced driver, and according to the testimonies of those who were fortunate enough to survive this disaster, in the last moment of his life, he managed to do everything possible to avoid a collision and save his comrades-in-arms…
