- Vasyl Mykolaiovych Drohomyretskyi was born on May 8, 1994, in the village of Bodnariv, Kalush district, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He was the only son in the family. After graduating from Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University, having obtained the title of candidate for master of sports in powerlifting, in 2015, Vasyl passed the selection for the newly created patrol police. Although life circumstances forced Vasyl to leave the service for a time, he returned to the patrol police department in Ivano-Frankivsk region, convinced that being a police officer was the job he wanted to do. His constant desire for development and learning something new pushed Vasyl toward new challenges. Therefore, in January 2022, he went to Transcarpathia and became an inspector in the 1st department for conducting special operations (assault) of the "Rapid Response Corps" of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Transcarpathia. For his new colleagues, Vasyl became not only a good friend but also an example of resilience, support, and courage. That is why on February 24, 2022, without any hesitation or fear, Vasyl stood up to defend his people, his Ukraine. Together with his comrades, he honorably defended Kyiv region, Kharkiv region, and Sumy region, and as friends recall, he was always "on top." His unwavering determination, inner strength, and ability to encourage often provided strength, hope, and confidence in victory. Vasyl Drohomyretskyi was killed during an artillery shelling in the Zaporizhia direction. The wife of the fallen warrior, Svitlana Drohomyretska, mourning her loss, recalls her husband's words: "I'm sorry for not being with you and our son now, but I could never do otherwise — I have to fight, I must fight..." Svitlana admits that this was all of Vasyl — in devotion, in selflessness for those around him, in honesty with himself. And also — in responsibility and extraordinary support. His strong shoulder, optimism, and cheerfulness not only inspired his wife but also encouraged her to be resilient, strong, and always move forward. "For me, he will always remain a kind, sincere person, an exemplary husband, a loyal friend, and also a wonderful father to our 5-year-old son. Vasyl always wanted to be the best example for his child, he wanted his son to be proud of him," Svitlana confesses. Vasyl Drohomyretskyi will always be a source of pride not only for his relatives but also for current and future generations of Ukrainians. For the freedom of the people and the independence of his state, Vasyl fought to the last drop of blood, as only someone with a boundless love for Ukraine can fight. For personal courage and selflessness shown in the defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, Vasyl Mykolaiovych Drohomyretskyi was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.Memory Book of the MIA System
