In 1984, Yuriy Oleksiyovych graduated with honors from high school, and in 1988, he graduated from the Kharkiv Guards Higher Tank Command School. Until 1991, he served in the group of Soviet troops in Germany, then in the Far East, and later continued his service in his native Kyiv. In October 2004, after years of service, he was discharged into the reserve of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the position of deputy commander of the mobile command post of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He engaged in entrepreneurship and was passionate about gardening at his summer house. At the end of 2013, Yuriy Oleksiyovych was one of the first to come to the Euromaidan, leading a platoon of the 8th "Afghan" hundred of self-defense, and was an active participant in the events of the Revolution of Dignity. On the night of February 20, he received a gunshot wound on Instytutska Street — a pellet that lodged under his collarbone, which he never managed to have removed. He received treatment at the "Solonyi Lyman" health resort in Dnipropetrovsk region, and by May, he joined the ranks of the National Guard battalion "Donbas," taking the position of deputy battalion commander for armament — head of the technical department. According to the fighters of "Donbas," Yuriy Oleksiyovych played a significant role in organizing the provision of equipment and armament for the unit. Participating in the ATO since July 17, reserve lieutenant colonel Lytvynskyi made a considerable contribution to the planning and conduct of operations, particularly regarding the liberation of the city of Popasna. The name of Yuriy Lytvynskyi was assigned to the tank company of the 46th separate special purpose battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Donbas-Ukraine," one of the combat vehicles of which was named after his call sign — Mongol. In November 2015, by the order of the commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, reserve lieutenant colonel Yuriy Lytvynskyi was posthumously awarded the military rank of "Colonel of the Reserve." His epaulettes were handed over to his younger son Pavlo, who was then a third-year student at the National Aviation University, where he had been studying at the military department since September 2015.Військова служба
