- Born on June 3, 1992, in the village of Symonivka, Sumy district, Sumy region. In 2007, he graduated from the 9th grade of the general education school in the village of Velyki Vilmy, Sumy district, in 2009 - from the general education school in the village of Tereshkivka, Sumy district, and in 2010 - from the State Vocational and Technical Educational Institution "Sumy Center for Vocational and Technical Education." He served in the 21st Separate Brigade of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (military unit 3011, Kirovohrad city (now Kropyvnytskyi)). He worked as a welder-boiler operator at the Sumy Machine-Building Scientific and Production Association named after M.V. Frunze in the city of Sumy. In March 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 9th Rocket Battery of the 3rd Rocket Artillery Division of the 27th Rocket Artillery Regiment of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A1476, Sumy city). Since the summer of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On September 3, 2014, near the village of Pobeda in the Novoaidar district of Luhansk region, the base camp of the 27th Rocket Artillery Regiment was shelled from the territory of the Russian Federation by the "Smerch" multiple launch rocket system. As a result of the shelling, 15 servicemen were killed, including Ihor Zavalnyi. On September 9, 2014, he was buried in the Alley of Honorable Citizens of the Central Cemetery in the city of Sumy. On September 1, 2015, a memorial plaque was opened for him on the facade of the general education school building (Shkilna Street, 36) in the village of Velyki Vilmy, Sumy district, and on May 6, 2016, in the city of Sumy in the hall of the State Vocational and Technical Educational Institution "Sumy Center for Vocational and Technical Education" (Oleksandr Shaparenko Street, 7), where Ihor Zavalnyi studied.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
