Maksym V. Donyk

Born on March 2, 1988, in the village of Sankivtsi, Khotyn district, Chernivtsi region. In 2003, he graduated from the 9th grade of the general education school in the village of Sankivtsi, Khotyn district, then attended the Chernivtsi Medical College of the Bukovinian State Medical University. He served his mandatory military service in the Airborne Forces of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He worked at the Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics of the Swedish-Ukrainian clinic "Angelholm" in the city of Chernivtsi. In April 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 87th Separate Airborne Battalion of the 80th Separate Airborne Brigade of the Order of the Red Star of the High Mobility Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A2582, city of Chernivtsi). From spring-summer 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On June 17, 2014, from the city of Shchastia in the Luhansk region, a group of soldiers from the 2nd company of the 87th Separate Airborne Battalion, which included soldier Donik, left on three BTR-80 armored personnel carriers to assist the fighters of the volunteer battalion "Aidar," who were engaged in combat with Russian-terrorist groups. In the area of the village of Metalist in the Slovianoserbsk district of the Luhansk region, the group of paratroopers was ambushed. As a result of the battle, 9 servicemen were killed, including soldier Donik. On June 22, 2014, he was buried in the Alley of Glory at the Central Cemetery of the city of Chernivtsi.
