- Born on May 22, 1980, in the city of Lviv. In 1997, he graduated from general education school No. 65 in Lviv. He served in the mandatory military service. On July 31, 2014, he was called up for military service through partial mobilization by the Lychakiv-Shevchenkiv-Zaliznychnyi Combined District Military Commissariat of Lviv. He served in the 80th Separate Airborne Brigade of the High Mobility Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0284, Lviv). From August 30, 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On September 5, 2014, Senior Sergeant Vashchuk was killed in battle with Russian-terrorist groups near the village of Tsvitni Pisky in the Slovianoserbsk district of Luhansk region. Since then, he was considered missing in action. On September 12, 2014, he was buried in the Alley of Temporarily Unidentified Defenders of Ukraine at the Starobilsk Cemetery (village of Chmyrivka, Starobilsk district, Luhansk region). He was identified through DNA testing. On August 29, 2016, he was reburied in the Field of Honor No. 76 at Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv. On November 21, 2016, a memorial plaque was unveiled in Lviv on the facade of the general education school (Roksolany Street, 35), where Oleksiy Vashchuk studied.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
