- 51-year-old Chief Sergeant Roman Patsay (call sign Patsan) was killed on August 24, 2022, in the Chaplyne district of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. In the morning, the military was loading their equipment onto a train. Around 16.00, an enemy rocket attack on the station in Chaplyne began. After the second arrival, Roman ran to pull out the wounded, who were near the train. At that moment, the third arrival occurred. The fighter was killed from explosive injuries. Roman was born in the city of Sambir, Lviv Oblast. He graduated from Sambir Informatics College and Drohobych College. He worked as a track maintenance worker at the Sambir railway station of Lviv Railways. During the full-scale war, the man defended Ukraine as part of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. He was the commander of the rigging platoon of the self-propelled artillery division of the brigade artillery group. "My dad was an extremely kind person. He never thought and didn't care about himself. Material values were unimportant to him, he never complained. When he went to fight, he said: 'My place is here. I'm glad I'm here.' He always tried to help everyone. A Christian. He loved his granddaughter Solomiya more than anything in the world. He treated his guys like sons. He worried and took care of them. He always said that if they listened to him, everything would be fine," said his daughter Victoria. The serviceman was buried in his hometown.
