On January 8, 2015, a farewell ceremony and funeral for the reserve sergeant of the battalion named after General Serhiy Kulchytsky of the National Guard of Ukraine, 45-year-old Roman Malyuta, who died in a terrible car accident near the city of Artemivsk, took place in the village of Dolynske in the Berdiansk district. "Roman came to military unit 3066 of the National Guard as a volunteer," said his close friend and comrade, Maksym Bidnyk. "In January 2014, we went to Maidan together, and from there we volunteered for the Aidar battalion." "Then Roman moved to the Donbas battalion, and after a while — to the military unit of the National Guard. I had already completed two rotations, and Roman had even more. To die in a car accident — how unfortunate… To go through the horrors of war and die so close to home," Maksym sadly noted. "I had known Roman for a long time," said Vitaliy Peleshko, the head of the Dolynska village council. "He was a good person and could not pass by injustice. He always spoke the truth to people's faces and emphasized that he had nothing to fear. He had no parents — his grandmother took him from the orphanage and raised him. In his youth, he was passionate about painting and dreamed of going to university. For some time, he even taught — he taught military training and civil defense to teenagers at school. When the Maidan began in the country, he was one of the first from our village to go to the capital to defend the people's interests. Then he went to serve in the National Guard. And now we are burying our soldier… His grandmother has passed away, he had no family…" The day of January 8 was frosty, the sky was clear and bright. The brass band rang out, and shouts of "Heroes do not die!" echoed. Special honors were paid to the fallen serviceman of unit 3033 of the National Guard of Ukraine, with officers from the Berdiansk military enlistment office and representatives of the unit, which lost such a large number of servicemen in the accident. The volunteer was escorted on his final journey with all the necessary military honors. Clergy held a service for the deceased. The air was shaken by the automatic gunfire of the military. Ukraine buried another of its heroes. Reserve senior lieutenant Anatoliy Martyniuk published a kind of touching epitaph for the fallen comrades on Facebook, most of whom he knew personally, as he had previously commanded this unit. Farewell to the brothers. "My dear platoon of the third company… We first met in Novyi Petrivtsi — so different, but with one goal — and truly united at checkpoint No. 7 near Sloviansk. I still can't believe that many of my guys are no longer with us, and so many have been injured… Roman Malyuta (call sign Jin) from the Zaporizhzhia region. So restless and resourceful — he always loved order and taught us to maintain it, sometimes with a request, and often with a sharp word. Your unique way of communicating is unforgettable. You were an orphan, but we became your family. I often remember your calls at two or three in the morning, like: 'According to the information I received, the separatists are preparing to take Mariupol. When is the meeting, when are we moving out?'"Військова служба
