Artem M. Serdeshnyi (Brain)

Sergeant Artem Serdeshniy (call sign Brian) was killed on the night of July 29, 2022, during a terrorist attack in the Russian colony of the temporarily occupied village of Olenivka in the Donetsk region. On July 24, the defender turned 21 years old. Artem was born in the village of Novi Verbky, Dnipropetrovsk region. In 2018, he graduated from the 11th grade of the Verbkivska secondary school. He devoted all his free time to training. He eagerly awaited adulthood, as since his teenage years he had dreamed of defending Ukraine. He ran distances of over 10 kilometers every day, always saying that his life was constant movement. During his military service, Artem performed the duties of a senior dog handler in the canine platoon. Despite his young age, the guy always aspired to start his own family, have a son named Mishunya, and raise him to be a real man. But he didn't have time. During the full-scale war, the guy became a fighter of the separate special operations unit of the NGU "Azov". Artem participated in the defense of Mariupol and "Azovstal". Together with his comrades-in-arms, he went through fierce battles and held out to the last. After leaving "Azovstal", the Ukrainian military were taken prisoner by the invaders. Some of the prisoners were deported to the Olenivka colony. Artem did not live to see the exchange in order to embrace his loved ones and his beloved. "My universe, the phrase 'Always together' is forever engraved on my heart. Brave, courageous, faithful to his country. He stood to the last. Comrades-in-arms say they have never encountered such positivity in war. Artem was constantly smiling, even when he understood that tomorrow might not come. Artem was, is and will be an example for all of us of what a true patriot of our Independent Ukraine should be!" - wrote the fallen warrior's girlfriend Vladyslava. On May 15, 2023, the hero was buried in his native village. His native sister, beloved girlfriend and friends did not wait for him. Artem left behind a dog that he trained in his free time. Mukhtar is still waiting for the return of his best friend.
