Serhii S. Platonov

Born on February 6, 1989, in the city of Snihurivka, Mykolaiv Oblast. In 2003, he graduated from the 9th grade of Snihurivka Secondary School No. 1, then attended Vocational Technical School No. 34 (now Snihurivka Vocational Lyceum) in Snihurivka. He served his mandatory military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He worked as a locksmith at the poultry farm of the Limited Liability Company "Areal-Snihurivka" (city of Snihurivka). In the spring of 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the High Mobility Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0224, city of Mykolaiv). Since the spring of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On July 11, 2014, near the village of Zelenopillya in the Sverdlovsk (since 2016 - Dovzhansky) district of Luhansk Oblast, around 4:30 AM, Russian-terrorist groups shelled the base camp of Ukrainian troops with BM-21 "Grad" multiple rocket launchers. As a result of the shelling, 7 servicemen of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and 30 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed, including Senior Soldier Platonov. On July 30, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery on Chaykovskogo Street (plot 2, row 1, place 1) in the city of Snihurivka. On July 10, 2015, a memorial plaque was unveiled in the city of Snihurivka on the facade of Secondary School No. 1 (Lenina Street, 138), where Serhiy Platonov studied.
