Vasyl Ya. Vovk

Born on January 4, 1991, in the village of Koblo, Starosambir District, Lviv Region. Completed 9 grades of general education at the Koblo village school in Starosambir District, then attended the Drohobych Mechanical and Technological College (Drohobych, Lviv Region). In 2009-2010, he served in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 169th Training Guards Center of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0665, the urban-type settlement of Desna, Kozelets District, Chernihiv Region). Since the 2010s, he served under contract in the 704th Separate Battalion of Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Protection of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0807, the city of Sambir, Lviv Region). Since the summer of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On July 11, 2014, in the area of the village of Zelenopillya, Sverdlovsk District (since 2016 - Dovzhansky District) of Luhansk Region, around 4:30 AM, Russian-terrorist groups shelled the base camp of Ukrainian troops with BM-21 "Grad" multiple rocket launchers. As a result of the shelling, 7 servicemen of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and 30 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed, including soldier Vovk. On July 15, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery of the village of Koblo, Starosambir District. In the village of Koblo, Starosambir District, memorial plaques have been opened in his honor on the facade of the general education school (Centralna Street, 2) and in the city of Drohobych in the hall of the Drohobych Mechanical and Technological College (Ranevytska Street, 12), where Vasyl Vovk studied.
